How do I update AVG Antivirus in a pc with no internet connection?

I tried downloading the Priority Updates, Recommended Updates, and Optional updates from this page -

and copying them to my flash disk drive. Then I plugged it into the pc with no internet connection. Then I opened AVG Antivirus and clicked Check For Updates and clicked Folder, indicating that the updates are in a folder (in my flash disk drive). This doesn't seem to work. Why?? Any suggestions?

That's a strange thing you are trying to do lol plus avg is horrid virus protection doesn't even work . you probably wont be able to do it . and why do you need updates for a computer wit no internet no new viruses can get to it lol

There is no conflict. I purchased AVG anti-spyware had I removed, because it did not find spyware and when spyware was found it was false/positive.

Recommend you use Superantispyware Free version. I use this program and it will find viruses/spyware with no conflict to your existing antivirus program.

Answer # 1 is 100% wrong. You only have conflict when you run two antiviruses programs. Will mess up you system. You can run three or four antispyware without conflict. I actually run five. Just make sure you have the resources, as one will or the other will always find what one missed.

first poster didnt read. no it wont mess up your pc. that is as long as all you have running is AVG anti spyware tool. and not the anti virus tool.you can have as many spyware tools as you like. only one firewall %26 anti virus at a time. good luck.
no but they will screw up your pc if you run them together you must remove one or the other you canot have 2 av run at the same time verry dangerous

moved

what do that mean?

is bitdefender free ed. good in scanning for viruses?

Regarding your first question what does

"Disinfection Failed Moved" It sounds like it tried to "Heal" the virus infected file, but removing the virus from this file was not possible so it "moved" it (Probably Quarantined it)

will allow you to keep bad programs from starting up, (I do recommend you uncheck the Registry tab, but pay close attention to the Startup Tab.

if your infection is really bad, you might be able to run this in safe mode.

Hard disk free space is lessening and lessening?

i have my disk free space getting lesser and lesser [about 100MB every bootup]

i do not notice any other virus symptoms other than this

i run ccleaner but it displays 1GB+ at analysis, but deletes only 58-100MB.

i deleted a 200MB-installer file but it did not show up on the free disk space of my drive.

my system restore setting is on 2GB+

i have Zonealarm as antivirus.

please help me. all help would very much be appreciated.

If nothing you found here is working, try doing this. Sorry about your luck! Did you try system restore? If you want to go back to when you had your comp almost new, you must first save any important files to a CD or floppy.... in Windows XP......go to start, all programs, accessories ( second column ), system tools, system restore ( bottom, right column )

close all other windows, before using this. Then Restore to an earlier date. After your done, restart your ( comp. ) windows. Good luck!

Well, at least you know what to do. I don't really understand why it always lessens every reboot, unless you always install a new software in your pc everytime. Try going into safe mode and run ccleaner there, it should help. Try going into C:\Documents and Settings\(Your name)\Local Settings\Temp and delete the files there, and of course disk cleanup which I assume you should have done it already. It shouldn't post any problems.

I tried mcafee and norton. They are ok but norton seamed to blog down the system or slow the pc down or ram or whatever. And boot time took forever to.

I have tried Ca antivirus to and i dont care for that one either cuase i picked up lots of trojans all the time Ca never caught any of them.

I tried the Ca firewall to and it was very hard to get off my system. I think i had to download something and then go into safe mode to remove it i cant recall for sure but it was a pain.So if any one wants to put Ca firewall on i would think twice and not do it.

i have a guy in my town that puts together and fixes pcs and stuff like that. He said that avg dont work very well or none of the free ones. He says that cause he goes to people's houses to fix pcs and someone that had avg got a virus and it destroyed his semos of the pc or the head part of the pc.

I agree. Kaspersky is the best anti-virus by far. But it is expensive. But ZoneAlarm Security Suite (not the firewall) uses the Kaspersky engine as the anti-virus component of the suite, so its a good one too.

If you are looking for a free anti-virus, I would suggest Avira AntiVir庐 PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than most "paid-for" anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. Uses less then 10 MB RAM on my machine. And did I mention that it's free for life! Oh, yeah I did! Works great on my Vista box, too.

spybot s%26d is a great program. but panda isnt verry good at all. it will consume all your rescources. you might want to try avast personal home 4.0 personal for your anti virus software. and spybot isnt an anti virus software it is for adware and spybots, which are just as bad. you will want to have at least these three programs.....

spybot is just anti adware/spyware, it's not a real antivirus program. Spybot is necessary since Panda doesn't detect all adware. So you use them both.

Ideally is to use 2 different anti adware-s, one antivirus and one firewall( some antivirus programs include firewall too)
a friend of mine put the panda thing on his computer, with the same windows as you. messed up the computer. had to pay alot t ofix it. i would stay with the spybot
