Help, i need to get rid of a virus?

I just installed Macafee and all it did was get rid of cookies and my cxomputer is tillslow i uninstilaled limewire and all those crappy music stuff

macafee says computer is clean but computer is slow its a 2003 hp

plus if theres any free antivirus that works links would help

How old is the computer? and are you sure that you are infected? A lack of RAM memory or older processors can also bog a computer down. Mcafee is a decent antivirus program, so if it is up to date, the problem could be with the computer itself.

I use AVG free and Spy Bot

Avast free edition its the best
Try AVG Free (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/), Avast (http://www.avast.com/), or Avira Antivir (http://www.avira.com).

All three are good, free antivirus apps. Just don't have all three at the same time. Also, you might have to uninstall MCafee.

If you want to keep Mcafee, you could also try doing an online scan. I would recommend using Kaspersky's http://usa.kaspersky.com/products_servic...
